Tacking up for my photo sessions!

Canon

This is what I typically bring with me to a photo session.

Canon 5D Mark III

I use two camera bodies at most of my sessions. This saves me from having to switch out my lenses so I don’t miss those candid moments.

The workhorse

The Canon 70-200mm is everything! This lens never leaves my side at a session. The range is amazing - from close-up to far away.

bag-5.jpg

Canon 85mm

This is a portrait lens I use when I know I won’t have to move around a lot to keep up with a horse.

bag-6.jpg

Canon 50mm

This is a must have in your camera bag! I love using this for detail shots. You can get very fun and creative with this lens.

bag-9.jpg

The mini workhorse

This is the newest addition to my camera bag. I love the bokeh on this lens. It’s slowly becoming one of my favorites.

Sigma 35mm Art

This is an interesting lens. I’ve used in many different settings but I find myself using this for close up and low light situations. It adds some distortion and you can get some great ‘‘artsy’’ shots.

Throwback cameras

The Polaroid One Step Flash was an amazing find at a garage sale. I loved taking polaroids as a kid. I use the this camera and the Instax Mini 90 at photoshoots so you have instant images to take home with you.

Film

This one explains itself.

bag-11.jpg

Canon batteries & charger

I like to have extra batteries and a charger with me at all shoots. This way i’m covered if one of them fails.

bag-12.jpg

Rocket-Air

This is a life saver if you get and dirt on or in you lens. I really don’t like touching the glass so having this around is the best.

bag-13.jpg

Yongnuo Speedlite

I have a few speedlites that I’ll use in certain situations, like if I want a more dramatic look or if I need to add a little fill light to the photo.

bag-15.jpg

Go Pro

I don’t always turn this on when I’m shooting, but if I do it’s usually to get footage of a herd of horses running at me full speed.

All the CF Cards

I use CF cards in my camera when I’m photographing running horses. The card will write at a faster speed than most SD cards.

bag-17.jpg

SD Cards

The bulk of my work is captured on SD cards - the faster the card the better. I keep a lot of cards on hand in case one of them gets corrupted.

bag-18.jpg

reinforced sd card holder

There is nothing worse than damaging a card that has all those beautiful images on it. I use this protected case so if it falls out and gets stepped on, the cards stay safe.

Spider Holster

This is a game changer! Carrying around a camera on your neck or shoulder can get painful after a while. I switched to this hip holster a couple of years ago and it was a great choice. This belt holds two camera bodies with lenses attached.

bag-3.jpg

Nicker Nickels

The horses will love you for this tasty treat. They are made with simple ingredients and contain no preservatives. Best of all, they are pocket friendly.

Equine photo halters

These photo halters made by Emma Van Veldhuisen make your post editing so much easier. With them being very thin, editing them out of photos takes less time.

Rain cover for your camera

This is a nice cover to have if it’s pouring out and you need to keep shooting.

Poncho

You can wear it, you can use it to keep your model dry, you can use it to scare horses - the possibilities are endless.
